Al-Murshid Privacy Policy

Information kept on your device

The app stores your choices and progress locally so its features can work. This may include:

• app, language, appearance, prayer-method, and notification settings;
• your selected city and recent prayer and weather information;
• Quran bookmarks, reading position, memorization and revision progress;
• dhikr, tasbih, daily-journey, Wudu Guide, and Prayer Guide progress; and
• prayer information shown in home-screen widgets.

Your Zakat Calculator entries and result stay only on the calculator screen. The app does not save or send them.

Android may copy app data through your device's backup feature if you have enabled it. That backup is controlled by Android and your Google account; we cannot access it.

Location and online services

With your permission, location is used for prayer times and Qibla and sent directly to MET Norway for weather, BigDataCloud for city detection, and OpenStreetMap/Overpass for maps and nearby mosques. These services also receive your IP address and handle data under their own policies. BigDataCloud states that it may aggregate coordinate and network signals to improve geolocation. Location access is optional; manual city search and time-zone lookup work offline.

Ads

Al-Murshid uses Google AdMob. Google and its advertising partners may process device or advertising identifiers, IP address, general device information, diagnostics, and ad views or interactions. Depending on your region and choices, this information may be used to deliver, measure, protect, or personalize ads.

Where required, the app shows Google's consent message before requesting ads. You can later use Settings → Manage Ad Preferences when that option is available, or visit My Ad Center. Learn more in Google's Privacy Policy and Google's partner-app information.

Notifications and device access

Location and notifications are optional. If enabled, reminders are scheduled on your device. On supported Android devices, you may also choose precise timing access so prayer notifications can arrive closer to their calculated time. If you decline, the app remains usable, but location-based features or notification timing may be less precise.

The app does not use your microphone, camera, contacts, or photos.

Sharing and external apps

Al-Murshid does not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with the service providers described above when needed for a feature. If you choose to share content, open a map, or get directions, the information you selected is passed to the app or service you choose and is then covered by its privacy policy.

Your choices and deletion

• You can deny location and select a city manually.
• You can turn reminders off in Al-Murshid or Android settings.
• You can delete Al-Murshid's saved settings and progress through Settings → Delete all my data. Clear the app's storage in Android settings or uninstall it to remove all local app data managed by Android.
• Data processed by an outside provider is handled under that provider's policy and controls.

Children

Al-Murshid is a general-audience app and does not ask users to create an account or provide a name, email address, or date of birth. Parents and guardians should supervise children's use of ads and external links. If you believe a child sent personal information to us by email, contact us so we can delete it.

Security and retention

Locally stored information remains until you delete it or uninstall the app. Online connections use HTTPS. Outside providers keep information under their own policies. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure.

If you email us, we use your address and message only to respond and handle the request, and keep them only as long as reasonably needed.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the app or its services change. The date at the top will show the latest revision.
